It won best refurbishment and the best overall project in the past year.
Estates' Paul Gilling and matron Chris Bentley represented the Trust at the event at Huddersfield Town Hall.
The judges said “It is an important contribution to Lindley’s heritage through the conversion and restoration of a landmark structure and important addition to the town’s medical facilities.”
Previously the former wire factory - across from HRI - has won awards for architecture and being an environmental asset for Lindley. In its heyday the pub next door was called The Globe. And as the mill went round three sides of it, the mill became known as the biggest in the world!
Paul said: " The project completed with many partners has won many awards on the national stage. However, this coming from our local community is extra special. Huddersfield has some tremdendous architecture old and new so to win overall make us all very proud and we are very grateful to the Civic Society."
Judges added “This £14m outpatient centre combines a thorough and sensitive refurbishment of an important local land mark, a Grade II listed former wire mill, with a bold new public entrance. The steel and glass entrance echoes the robust yet functional design of the original multi-storied building which dates from the early 19th century.
“The refurbishment of the building has retained essential architectural and historic features, such as the pedimented main block, while the internal décor is lively and welcoming.”
