Baby Edie Born 230 miles away from home

New parents Simon and Louise Cunningham from London have thanked maternity at CRH after their baby daughter was born 230-miles from home.

Louise went into labour early during a visit to Halifax for a wedding and gave birth at CRH. Now they have written to the Courier to praise the care they received.

Simon wrote of his pride at his "Yorkshire Lass" and said the care was "trouble-free and joyous". Here's his letter.

"Whilst visiting the area from London for a wedding last weekend, my wife found herself going into labour unexpectedly early- some 230 miles away from our planned birth hospital. After a somewhat anxious 4am trip to Calderdale Royal, and a relatively speedy delivery. I'm delighted to announce the arrival of our beautiful baby daughter Edie. This birth was a trouble-free and joyous one, despite being so far from home. I'd now like to take the opportunity to thank the absolutely wonderful midwives and staff at Calderdale Royal for their exceptional care and attention during short stay in Halifax. They're a true asset to your town, and among the warmest and friendliest people you could ever wish to meet. Halifax will now forever have a special place in our hearts, so thank you once again on behalf of a proud mum and dad and their beautiful Yorkshire Lass!"

Our Head of Midwifery, Anne-Marie Henshaw, said "As a team, it is always so lovely to receive thanks as we know this is such a special and memorable time for our mum's and families. Babies do tend to come when they're ready and in this occasion we were delighted to bring baby Edie into the world sending a little bit of Yorkshire back to London.

"We wish them all the very best and again, say how thrilled they took the time to write to the Courier about their fab care with us at CHFT."
