Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust (CHFT) was featured on the BBC One primetime programme The One Show, for our work to cut waiting lists to one of the lowest in the country.

Our surgical team at HRI welcomed presenter Kevin Duala who met with colleagues about how we’ve brought our waiting lists down, and why we are consistently named as one of the top-performing Trusts for waiting times in the country. He also spoke to patients Nick and Leanne about their experience of care, and how a shorter wait has led to a quicker recovery.

Featured in the piece were Tom Strickland, Director of Operations, Surgery and Anaesthetics Division, Consultant Surgeon Richard Frame, and Clinical Operations Managers Amy Shedden and Emma Mooney. They spoke about the way we have managed to bring our waiting lists down, including the way our dedicated colleagues from across hospital teams have pulled together to better track the patient journey, and some of the technology we have put in place such as a surgical robot.

We were also joined by Dr Sharmeen Lotia, Clinical Director for Theatres and Anaesthesia, Leeds Teaching Hospitals, who spoke about how Trusts across West Yorkshire work together to improve the patient pathway and share best practice.
