Last week, Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust (CHFT) was featured on Sky News for the work we have carried out to turn one of the longest waiting lists on the country to one of the shortest – and in record time.

We welcomed BAFTA and Emmy Award-winning correspondent, Ashish Joshi, to HRI to film the piece. Our consultant surgeons, Simon Gonsalves and Richard Frame took part in the piece, as did our Chief Operating Officer, Jonny Hammond.

Our staff have pulled together to ensure that CHFT is consistently named as one of the top-performing Trusts for elective waiting times in the country.

We’ve managed to bring our waiting lists down thanks to the work of our dedicated teams across the hospital, from medical secretaries and schedulers to theatre staff.

The news piece featured some of the initiatives put in place to help make the change, including introducing weekend cost-per-case lists, as well as the work to track patients through their pathway, minimising the gaps between appointments.
