CHFT Governor elections 2024

A series of photos showing CHFT staff in different teams and roles

We are looking for 12 public governors to sit on our Council of Governors (CoG) and nominations are being sought now.

Residents from across Calderdale and Kirklees can nominate themselves to represent the area they live on the CoG.

The public governors sit on the CoG alongside CHFT staff governors and governors from partner organisations and the CoG helps shape decisions for the Trust in many areas to ensure it provides the best patient care.

The governors bind the Trust to its communities, and anyone aged over 16 who lives in an area with a governor vacancy can stand for election. You need to be a member of CHFT to stand – joining is free and easy and there are more details on our website page.

If you want to find out more about the governor role and the elections process, our Chair, Helen Hirst, is hosting some information sessions.

There are two face-to-face sessions, the first on Wednesday, 8th May between 12pm and 1pm at Calderdale Royal Hospital. There is also a session on Thursday, 9th May between 5pm and 6pm at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

There are also two virtual (Microsoft Teams) sessions on Wednesday, 8th May between 5pm and 6pm and on Thursday, 9th May between 12.30pm and 1.30pm.

Contact membership@cht.nhs.uk or call 01484 347342 to book your place.

Helen has also recorded a short video talking about the role of a governor.
