Huddersfield Royal Infirmary recognised as an NHS Forest Site

Eagle eyed patients and visitors may have spotted a number of saplings have appeared by the side of Acre Mills Outpatients at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. It's all down to the hard work of our green fingered colleagues in Calderdale and Huddersfield Solutions.

Environment Manager, Grace Barrett, said: "We added more than 20 new fruit trees to our orchard, including apples, plums, prunes, pears, and cherries, just in time for the first day of spring.

"Our Head Gardener, Sam Gough, right, planted them all with some help from Environmental and Waste Coordinator, Will Bennett. They're part of our effort to support clean air and our Trust's green plan, joining the 600+ trees that we have already planted at HRI, and which is now an official NHS Forest Site."

The NHS Forest is an alliance of health sites working to transform their green space to realise its full potential for health, wellbeing and biodiversity, and to encourage engagement with nature. Find out more on their website: What is the NHS Forest?
