Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology will be in use in all our car parks at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and Acre Mills Outpatients from Monday, 18th December 2023, and it will take around two days for all the equipment to be installed.

There are no changes to the charging periods we operate, or the amount you’ll need to pay*. The 30-minute free period for drop-offs and pick-ups will still be in place, so there is no need to pay for this period of time in the car parks, however many times you enter. As long as you do not exceed 30-minutes you won't be charged.

Our current pay machines are old and prone to break. The brand-new machines will give a much better experience to support easier access. It will be easier to see what you need to pay on larger screens with touch technology.

The new ANPR system should also speed up your entrance and exit from our car parks. Our barriers will be removed, and you will no longer need to take a paper ticket. Your number plate will be registered by the system when you arrive. This means you’ll need to enter your car’s registration number into the pay machine before you leave the car park.

You can pay by cash or card.

There are no changes to the Calderdale Royal car park at this moment in time.

* If you are exempt from paying for your parking, you should go to the front desk in the main entrance, or to a colleague on the Greenlea Ward. Our staff will validate your stay for you. Please take your blue badge with you if you are entitled to free parking.
