Almost £1000 raised for the 4Louis Charity to support bereaved families

Here's staff on Ward 1D, who last week welcomed Louis’ grandparents on behalf of the 4Louis Charity to receive the money raised during Baby Loss Awareness Week (BLAW).

In total £971 was donated to the 4Louis Charity. It was raised by the gynae and obstetrics teams who hosted a joint fundraising Big Cake Day event during BLAW.

Information stands were at both HRI and CRH, and in the days leading up to the event, Staff Nurses Cathryn Ryan and Deborah Farmer staffed the stalls and sold raffle tickets alongside other merchandise. A further £309 was raised during the Big Cake Day itself and was donated to the maternity bereavement fund.

The 4Louis Charity works across the country to support anyone affected by miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal, and infant loss. They provide memory boxes, cuddle cots and photography equipment for hospitals across the country. They also provide essential bereavement training for nurses, midwifes and other healthcare professional to help improve the care for bereaved families. Bob and Tracey, Louis’ grandparents, visited the ward to receive the cheque and speak with some of our colleagues.

Deborah said: "I have known Bob and Tracey for several years now and can honestly say that the amount of time and commitment they provide to the charity is fantastic. They have a passion and drive ensuring that bereaved parents have the continuing support they need during one of their hardest times of their lives, it is a privilege to raise money for this fantastic charity."

Bereavement Midwife, Sarah Hall, said: "It's inspirational to see how the 4Louis Charity has grown and I'm proud to raise money to support them and to give something back."
