It's Transplant Week

Our Trust has an excellent record in supporting families throughout the organ donor process to save and improve lives and next week there will be information stands in both hospitals with leaflets about joining the register.

This year's theme for Transplant Week is "Turn an end into a beginning."

In today's Examiner there's a feature  day in the life of our transplant specialist nurse Jayne Greenhalgh. (http://www.examiner.co.uk/news/west-yorkshire-news/you-organ-donor-register-majority-11806984) There's also a local success story about a lady who received a new kidney 35 years ago and how it has transformed her life and her family's life. (http://www.examiner.co.uk/news/west-yorkshire-news/mother-daughter-were-given-gift-11806983)

On Sunday September 18 our team will be at the Syngenta Family Open day with a massive "Operation" game where members of the public can try to work out what goes where in the human body - a lighthearted approach to encouraging awareness.

Jayne said: " People are still dying on a waiting list so more people on the register the more lives can be saved. It is also improitant to tell you loved ones of your wishes so, in difficult times, they can support your wishes to come true."
