Julia wins our Star Award

Star Award Julia Robinson

Huddersfield Royal Infirmary cook Julia Robinson is our latest monthly Star Award winner* after making sure a young boy in traction was kept cool during the hot weather in his month-long stay.

Paediatrics sister, Katie Wade, nominated Julia saying: “A little boy was on the Children’s ward at HRI and was due to be in traction for a month during a really hot spell.

“Julia went up with the dinner trolley and as she was chatting to him realised there wasn’t a freezer for ice cream/ice lollies, and it was his wish was for an ice lolly on hot days to cool him and his dinosaur down. So, Julia took it upon herself to take up an ice lolly to him every day. She really did put the patient first”

Julia started work almost 40 years ago at St Luke’s Hospital, Crosland Moor. When it closed in December 2010, she transferred to HRI, and has worked here ever since.

After winning Julia said: “Over the years I’ve seen many changes, but the one constant factor is that the needs of the patients are priority.”
