Lily is our latest peer-to-peer Star Award winner

Lily and her colleagues

Therapy Discharge Practitioner, Lily Mackrill, was surrounded by her proud colleagues last week as she received our latest peer-to-peer Star Award. The Award was given for her compassionate care to a young patient, alongside her determination to advance her career at CHFT.

Lily's nomination came in from Physiotherapists Daniel Moore and Charlotte Clee, and Occupational Therapist, Claire Kenny.

They wrote: "Lily is a hardworking, approachable, caring empathetic member of staff and has a positive attitude when facing new challenges. She goes above and beyond to care for patients. A recent example was a memory whiteboard that she made for a young patient with cognitive impairment. This improved patient care and was an activity that could be completed with the wider MDT and her family."

Lily has progressed through the apprentice scheme to qualify as a Therapy Assistant. She then completed another apprentice role to be a Therapy Discharge Practitioner, which she is thriving in. Lily is often involved in unplanned situations as she covers the acute wards and A&E. She takes this in her stride and always goes above and beyond her expected role."

Lily said: "I was so shocked by what was happening, it was a complete surprise. My team had told me all day we were having a meeting at 3.30 and that I had to be there, people kept reminding me of the meeting, but I didn't think anything of it. At half three when I walked in the office I was confused as to why old colleagues and Rob were in our meeting, but still didn't think anything out of the ordinary was happening - until they announced my name!"

Deputy Chief Executive, Rob Aitchison, presented the award. He said: “It was a real pleasure to present Lily with her Star Award, especially as so many of her colleagues came along to share their pride in her well-deserved win.

“She’s certainly made an impression on her team. They specifically wanted to recognise the great example she set by supporting one of her patients. But it was much more than that, as Lily has truly had a great couple of years progressing her own self-development. It looks like she has a fabulous career ahead of her at #TeamCHFT and we’ll be watching with interest.”
