Premature babies and their parents can now take advantage of some fabulous patchwork quilts, generously made with love, and donated by a local charity to our neonatal unit at CRH.
One of the first to benefit was Matilda Norman, and her mum Liz and dad Will .
Matilda was born nine weeks early on 10 January. Her weight on Monday (16 Jan) was confirmed as 2lbs 12.5 ounces. Mum Liz told CHFT Weekly: "I can't quite believe where the time has gone, six days has gone by already. The quilts are absolutely beautiful and such a nice personal touch."
The 20 quilts were donated by The Project Linus Quilters of Halifax. The group is part of St George's Community Trust and the group were named after the security blanket-loving character from Peanuts.
Neonatal Clinical Manager Wendy Kilner, pictured with the pile of quilts and quilters, said: "We were so pleased to receive the quilts from Project Linus. They are absolutely stunning and it was difficult for the mums to choose the one they liked the best.
"The quilts can be used for mums and babies having skin-to-skin contact, and can also be used as incubator covers. They can then go home as memories from the neonatal unit and be used at home as well creating a heirloom"
The quilting group meet weekly and this is the first donation to CHFT. After seeing the quilts we hope it's not the last!
