What a day for NHS70! "Shared across the nation, envied across the world"!

It was party-on for the NHS's 70th across our Trust yesterday.

Our entrances, St John's Health Centre and many wards and departments in our hospitals joined in the celebrations on a truly amazing and joyous day.

We've let matron Karen Melling speak for us all when she said:"  I have had a fantastic day but my feet are now swollen haha ! It's been quite emotional day but very uplifting at the same time. Have absolutely loved it!"

We invited  multifaith leaders from our communities for the fmore formal proceedings  in the afternoon.

The Bishop of Huddersfield Jonathan Gibbs said the NHS was shared across the nation and envied across the world adding: " Let it thrive, prosper and continue to bring healing. May everyone who works here excel at caring and bring compassionate care to all."

He hailed the "firebrand and force of nature" Nye Bevan who was the health secretary who founded the NHS back in 1948 for seeing  an NHS  would present a better way of life for everyone. He hailed staff saying: " Let's give thanks to all who contribute day by day and dedicate ourselves to ensure it continues to flourish in the future."

The Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress of Kirklees Cllr Mumtaz Hussain  and Noreen Hussain were among our guests at HRI and gave us this video interview about what the NHS means to them and how special it was to be there. click here.
