Preparation for procedure
You will be required to fast for this procedure, you MUST NOT EAT OR DRINK FOR 6 HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT TIME. Failure to do this may result in cancellation on the day.
On admission the nurse will ask you a number of questions about your health to ensure you are able to go ahead with the procedure. It is important that you have a list of all your medications to hand to the nurse. If you are unsure about your medication, contact your GP practice and ask them to provide you with a list. You will be able to ask any questions you may have about the procedure.
- If you are coming for assessment for bariatric surgery, you must stop any antacid medication ie lansoprazole, omeprazole and esomeprazole.
- If you are coming for barrett surveillance or monitoring of ulcers then you must continue to take your antiacid medication.
- If you have had previous nasal surgery, a broken nose or take any blood thinning medication, ie Warfarin, Sinthrome, Phenindione, Rivaroxaban, Dabigatran, Apixaban, Clopidogrel you won’t be able to have this procedure.
