Gynaecology
We provide a gynaecology service, including outpatient clinics, outreach clinics in the community, day case surgery and in-patient facilities (for patients who need to stay at least one night). The outpatients service runs clinics at both our hospitals each day every week. The service includes an emergency gynaecology clinic Monday to Friday, which your GP can access if needed.
The gynaecology service also runs an Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit, which operates at Calderdale Royal and this provides a service seven days a week. The in-patient service on the women’s unit at Calderdale Royal Hospital (CRH) provides pre and post-operative care for minor and major gynaecological surgery, for example hysterectomy. All patients will attend a pre-assessment clinic prior to the day of surgery to check everything is fine to go ahead. The unit at CRH also provides pre and post-operative care for some gynaecological cancers. It also provides care for women and their partners who have suffered early pregnancy loss, such as miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy. The ward is staffed to enable it to receive all Huddersfield and Calderdale gynaecology emergency admissions seven days a week. The in-patient unit at CRH also runs a termination of pregnancy service and patients can self-refer or be referred by their GP or family planning clinic.
All obstetrics and Gynaecology consultant offices are based at the Calderdale Royal Hospital with clinical commitments on both hospital sites.
The Reproductive & Sexual Health and Yorkshire Fertility sub directorate consultants are based in the community.
Other Obstetrics and Gynaecology staff across both sites include:
4 Specialty Doctors
8 GpVTS/ ST1/ST2/ FY2
12 ST3 -ST7
