Update on NHS Calderdale & Huddersfield MS Nurse Service

As many of you may already know one of the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust's MS Nurses retired in March 2025. The Trust are currently looking at their whole Neurology Service with an aim to strengthen it for the future, and anyone needing advice from an MS Nurse should contact the Neurology Nursing Services Admin Team on 01484 344 227 or email cah-tr.neurologynurses@nhs.net.

In addition, the MS Society Helpline also has three MS Nurses who can provide you with medical information such as treatment options, side-effects of medication, and managing symptoms. They can give you information, support and talk to you about how to get help. But they are unable to proviide you with advice about your specific condition. You can contact the MS Society on 0808 800 8000, or email helpline@mssociety.org.uk, or direct private message on Facebook messenger.

The local MS Society Calderdale group is also there to support you, and run two regular monthly socials - a breakfast club at Coffee Culture in the Park, Shibden Park on the second Monday of every month and a tea, sarnies & natter get together on the last Wednesday of each month at Pellon Social Club. There is an online exercise group and an in-person Pilates class, and they also offer subsidised complementary therapies, a grants programme, information and signposting and they fund a benefits advice service with Fightback4Justice. Visit their webpage for details www.mssociety.org.uk/calderdale or find them on Facebook, 'Calderdale MS Group'. If you see them out and about with a fundraising or awareness raising stall, please go and say hello. You can call them for a friendly chat on 07395 336 437 or email them on calderdale@mssociety.org.uk too!
