Walking Group
We’re delighted to let you know that after a long break during the pandemic, our Macmillan Health Walk is now back in person at Greenhead Park! We launched our Macmillan Health Walk in 2019 in partnership with Kirklees Council and the Ramblers Association. Our Macmillan volunteers, Shaz and Margaret, as well as our staff member, have trained as walk leaders with Kirklees Council and will run future walks around Greenhead Park. Thank you, ladies!
Physical activity is extremely important for people affected by cancer, and walking is an ideal, gentle activity to raise the heart rate and get some fresh air. The social part of the group is also extremely important, with the chance for patients and family members to meet others in a similar situation and chat to our Macmillan volunteers and staff for support too.
The Macmillan Health Walk will take place on the following dates at Greenhead Park, Trinity Street, Huddersfield. HD1 4DT. Please can we ask you not to come along if you have Covid symptoms – thank you. The walks will set off at 10.30am from the Conservatory so we ask you to please arrive around ten minutes beforehand, to complete a registration form.
Dates for the next walking group meetings are:
- Thursday 6th October, 10.30am
- Thursday 3rd November, 10.30am
- Thursday 1st December, 10.30am
Everyone is very welcome and you don’t need to book – please feel free to just turn up and look out for the team in green Macmillan T-shirts.
