Clinical Research

Clinical Research in Oncology

The oncology unit have a long history of being at the forefront of research within CHFT. Our dedicated clinicians are driven to be able to offer patients a variety of treatment options. This may include access to drugs, genetic testing and medical devices that may otherwise not be available to patients within standard care.

All our research trials go through strict governance and receive ethical approvals. Our studies are a combination of NIHR adopted studies and from commercial sponsors. The successful combination of our committed clinicians and experienced research team is reflected in our varied portfolio of research and our excellent reputation for providing high quality data. We are frequently approached to take part in research trials that may have limited sites opened and are able to take patient referrals from other hospitals to enable patients access to research studies.

Participation in research remains voluntary but our ethos is to be able to provide patients with the information to make informed decisions about their treatment options.

The research team are made up of experienced Research Nurses, Allied Health Professionals and Clinical Trials Assistants who will support patients with information and care if they are considering participation.
