Video Consultation

Your Video Appointment

You maybe sent a video appointment using our patient portal provided by DrDoctor.
We offer video appointments to patients who do not require a hospital visit. This allows you to have your appointment with your Care Team from the comfort of home through a video call, which could save you time, money and the difficulty of travelling to the hospital appointment.

Frequently asked questions

What do I need to use video consultations

You will need:

  • A device with a camera, speaker and microphone (these are usually built into your smartphone, tablet, or laptop)
  • A supported web browser such as Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Apple Safari, Opera or Vivaldi
  • Good connection to the internet. To avoid using your data allowance, we recommend using Wi-Fi where possible which may have a better connection
  • A quiet, well-lit room where you will not be disturbed. If you are by a bright light, like a window, sit so the light is on your face not behind you.
  • A surface or table to prop your device on, so your camera stays steady during the call

How do video consultations work?

We will send you a text message or email reminder, with the date and time of your video appointment. Click on the link in your message to login to the patient portal and view the details of your appointment.

You can log into the patient portal at any time to see appointment information by visiting this webpage - Login - My DrDoctor. The video appointment details can also be added to your device calendar for reminders.

One to two hours before your appointment, we will send you another text message or email with a secure link to your video consultation. Click the link and follow the on screen instructions to enable your camera and audio access.

Please wait for your clinican to join. There maybe occasions where there is a short delay and your appointment might not run at the planned time. This might be becuase the clinician needs to spend a little more time with another patient. If this occurs, please stay on the call.
